Our new bilingual Shakespeare!
Step into the dance of entangled loves…
The young and beautiful aristocrat Viola has lost her twin brother Sebastian in a shipwreck and washes up on the shores of a strange land, Illyria. She disguises herself as a young man (Cesario) in order to enter the service of Duke Orsino, with whom she falls in love. But the melancholic Duke is unmoved by this new confidant with the voice of an angel, for he is in love with the beautiful Countess Olivia, who, having lost her father and brother, has shut herself away in endless mourning and rejects the Duke’s advances. When Orsino sends his new page, Cesario/Viola, to plead his love to Olivia, the countess in turn falls madly in love with the ‘young man’.
Viola loves Orsino / Orsino loves Olivia / Olivia loves Viola…

Bilingual theatre!
In 2016, the Year marking the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death, our theatre company wished to pay tribute to him by staging this play, which is at once luminous and joyful, profound and mysterious. Due to a lack of resources, our company was unable to stage the play at the time. It was with another show, ‘A Baroque Midsummer Night’s Dream’ that we celebrated this anniversary in style.
We are therefore delighted and proud to be able to present this brand-new production, created in early 2025!
‘Twelfth Night, or What You Will’ is indeed one of Shakespeare’s masterpieces: a major and magical play which, whilst not as well known to the general public as the classics ‘Hamlet’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’ or ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, is a grand and rich comedy emblematic of his powerful, dynamic and poetic body of work.
We are delighted to present it to you in the original language, with passages in French to aid understanding, in a dynamic and playful adaptation for four bilingual actors, all directed by the English director, Peter Vickers.
